La Iglesia Pyramid - As you can see, archaeologists have discovered this pyramid to have been built in several layers. It was typical, after the passing of one king, for the new king to build his pyramid over the top of the pyramid of the previous king.
The pyramids served only as sites for ceremonies and rituals and not as homes. The homes of the royal families were built on the grounds surrounding the pyramids.
